HERITAGE TOWN

lismore_castle
In Lismore the shop fronts look like an old film set, maybe from the 50s.

”Spooky trees filter out the sky, their branches dripping moss and lichens in testament to the pure air.”

People are gentle and friendly, pubs cosy and welcoming. This is an Irish heritage town like no other. In summer it hosts an opera festival and from February to October the fishermen come.
All year round the town’s majestic castle watches over daily comings and goings. Pitched high above the river Blackwater , buttressed by stout foliage, an inspiration for any number of fables and fairytales.
There are waterside walks and rolling meadows and trees that change colour from emerald to flame, even a cathedral …and no parking ticket machines.
Over the bridge the road twists and turns into the hills. Spooky trees filter out the sky, their branches dripping moss and lichens in testament to the pure air.
You should see Ireland first and then go out to tell others about the wonders of the world.
