The Secret Garden

powerscourt centre, Dublin

Retail in Dublin City Centre

Hidden in plain sight on one of Dublin’s busy streets is a secret oasis, a magic garden.
Its display tumbles nonchalantly down the granite steps of the elegant the Powerscourt Townhouse on South William Street. Heathers, cyclamen, ivy and a selection of miniature trees draw the eye and lift the spirit on a damp grey cast winter morning. Strangely, they look as if this is their natural habitat.

”…..candles with alluring names and exotic scents, garlands of pine or willow,…..”

This is The Garden at Powerscourt.
Inside, in an oddly comforting gloom, nature’s finest perfumes linger and enchant. Here one finds wonderful and lavishly fresh blooms awaiting transport to fine homes or small flats around the city. Delicate posies catch the eye of romantics and a trove of imaginative gifts to amuse the curious.
There are candles with alluring names and exotic scents, garlands of pine or willow, pots to adorn favourite plants, cards to wish happy anniversary or declare undying love.
The Garden invites passers by to pause, smile and consider beautiful things – I can think of no better place for it to work its charm than right in the heart of a bustling busy city.
